北美佬以前是唔識收tips 的，就算高級餐廳都只係5% to 10% 比盡, 呢個percentage 係U of Michigan 同 Read ...

That's not true. Maybe you are new here. In North America, for western restaurants, 15-20% tips is the normal.
Tipping is a western thing, hopefully the westerners will not spread this bad habit to China.

When I visited mainland China, I realized tips is not needed in restaurants, hotels or taking a taxi.
