VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - As people mop up from severe flooding in the Peace River region two weeks ago, they're having to watch water levels again today.  The district is expecting over 80 millimetres of rain this weekend.

A flood warning has been issued for the region and heavy rainfall has closed Highway 52 between Dawson Creek and Tumbler Ridge.

Andy Teslyk lives on the shores of Moberly Lake and is just coming to terms with what happened two weeks ago when his entire basement was under three feet of water.  He lost his furnace, water system and tools and now he's watching the lake levels creep up once again.

"It came up four inches last night," he tells News1130. "There is about two feet before the water comes to the top of our retaining wall and another foot before it comes into our basement."

Unfortunately, he says there are few precautions he can take.

"In our case, sandbags are useless because it's gravel around our house," he says. "When the water table comes up, it keeps coming up through the gravel. Sandbagging won't help us at all."

The people living in about 700 homes near Dawson Creek have been put on evacuation alert and are being told to get ready to leave.
