Honestly, wedding banquet is just for entertaining the parents.
if it's up to me, I would rather have a quiet, small desigination wedding and use the money toward down payment.

yeah... it's not as easy as it sound.  Me for example, my mom already told me ahead of time that we don't have much family/relative here, so instead of only holding wedding baquet here in Canada, it's a must to have another one in Asia to entertain her family.....

and my bf has a huge family himself in Canada... so it's all $$$$

咁我都算係個幾孝順，既然父母嘅心願，無理由唔做，咁但係男友排第8，齋請佢屋企都金，咁我哋亦好想請啲好朋友，唉，條數加加埋埋，所以完全無結婚嘅衝動，佢同我都係慳自己，唔想對唔住朋友同屋企人，真係做唔出做到好cheap 咁，話哂大家嘅朋友都有返咁上吓年齡，尤其是佢啲朋友有啲真係做到我老豆老母嘅年紀。。。

ai... some elderly are like that... and not like they will change over night
When that happen, I just... eat quietly and quickly finish dinner...

and pick on food that chopsticks didn't touch lor... what can I do? try not to give them hard feeling lor...

My own grandfather is like that too.... ai..sometimes, he licked his chopsticks and continues eating...and use his chopsticks to grab food for me too...........
