No personal experience, but my friend's mother cannot stand the small buzzy noise from the transformer at night and can't sleep at their old house.  Ended up they had to move.  The mother is the only person that suffer from the noise in the house.

If you stand close or touch the transformer, you could definitely feel/hear the vibration from the transformer.  I don't think there is any harmful radiation from the transformer itself.  But if you have a sensitive hearing, better consider this again.

For fire hydrant, the only bad thing is about parking.  Since you mentioned it being a corner lot, I don't think parking space is limited.  So I wouldn't think it is a problem, but of course you could still use it as your bargaining point.

Just remember on a seller's market, all these minor issue isn't that important when buyers are fighting to purchase your house.  However, on a buyer's market, all these minor things could change the decision whether the buyer will pick yours or others.

Could I ask why you prefer a corner lot?

Good luck.

I asked about the corner lot question only because I remember my parents said no to corner lot where they move last time which I don't quite understand.

Now I think about it, in our previous apartment, we actually have a transformer (slightly bigger than usual since it is for a low raise apartment) about 10 foot away from our kitchen window.  It was separated by a wall (5-foot tall) and short trees (my apartment is on the ground floor).  I personally never heard any sound from the transformer myself.

Well, life is like that.  Just keep looking and good luck on your hunt.

In both of our home purchases (only have 2 anyway), our offers were made in the same day.  First time, offer was made even before their first open house.  Second time was after their first day open house.

It is such a tough game and good things really doesn't last even in today's market which people said it is a buyer's market.
