5 years ago we drove to Leavenworth at X'mas eva, and it was snowing.... badly.

It was just raining along the coast line, but once we entered the mountain, the snow just fall and keep falling.  I was on my 2 weeks old Honda Fit passing everyone on that 1-lane traffic since everyone was like driving 20 km/h.  I need to get there for our X'mas dinner with my wife since I promised her, so I was in a bit of hurry, haha...  Then I realize my Honda Fit comes with windshield washer that can't handle -10c from the factory.  Nothing came out once the nozzle was frozen and that really sucks.  Good that my wife was sleeping all the way otherwise she will be screaming out loud for the whole trip.

Anyway, that was our story with Leavenworth.  Dinner was okay, town was small but beautiful and we enjoyed the walk around.  All stores close at X'mas day, so we visited nothing.  Snow continued to come down on the X'mas day and I had to dig my car out from the snow which accumulated up to my windows.  we left after lunch and head home earlier.  Quite a X'mas experience for us.

well, you said you have a sport car.  So I guess that means you wouldn't be driving that.

Renting a pick-up truck?  You mean 4x4?  Sure.  The road is not scary at all, but it is a single lane traffic mostly.  i.e. once you have a slow car, you will be blocked which was my case.  It is mountain area and snow is expected, no biggie.

Leavenworth is way way way..  smaller than Whistler village.

Why you think a tour bus could handle a snowy road better than a SUV?  Plus I believe the tour bus was stuck not because it can't handle the road itself.  Mostly because of the slow traffic or an accident on the road.

Well, if you don't feel comfortable on those conditions, of course I wouldn't encourage you to try.  Fly out down south and enjoy the sun instead.
