The problem is:
Where in Vancouver can you find a house for under $600,000???
Social housing program is not feasible in Vancouver,  they cost over $700,000
per unit to build, and the cost of prime property at False Creek?
The social housing at Olympics village is not meant for the hard working low income people, they are for the homers that neither pay tax or contribute to the city.
Some homers told me that they have never pay tax in their live,
they move from city to city, just to collect all the welfare available

I agree with you on this
According to Stat Canada, RICHMOND is considered one of the poorest
city in Canada, because very few people paying income tax.
The immigrants leave their family here, with big houses and fancy cars,
using public  medical and education system then declared as non-resident
and DO NOT PAY TAX.
Some Cacausians  pity Richmond residents and think they are under poverty line.

I  know some rich people , they have no idea
how much the  MSP premium payment is, since they
never have to pay due to low or no employment income
on their tax return.A man from China leases a 4-Acres farmland from gov't  for  $10,000 per annum.
he rents out the farm house for $20,000 a year, grows and sell vegetables to
restaurants for cash. He declares deficit on his tax return and receives gov't
subsidize. Free medical care for his family. And, he owns 3 new rental houses.....

Not necessary, I saw some really decent and livable coach-house,
will post some pic to prove.
It took almost a year to complete and perfect for  young couples.
Well, if you have enough money to invest on a  new free-standing house in Vancouver,
it is not for you then
