If everybody have the same standard as living as people in the first world countries have, we would need to have about 15 earths to fulfill.  People in China got to understand, life is not a money chasing competition between peers. We do not get the win by raising standards of living, we need to have a society based on sustainability. Even if it means our automobiles are taken away, luxury such as ice cream, LV, are taken away. We need to start telling Chinese, urban lifestyle may not be the way to go, go back towards a technological agrarian society. Our society is relying too much on petroleum, and when it runs out, there is gonna be a lot of trouble. We are too docile, listen to authority too much, thus brain-washed by their propaganda. Our future is in our hands, either we change now, or suffer later. People like Obama, Harper, or even Hu Jian To, worry about the economy too much, but there is a bigger problems brewing.  I hope y'all could realize.

Calling conservation anti-evolutionary is like the Neanderthals calling the homo-sapiens "intelligent weaklings" I suggest y'all read Ronald Wright's "A Short History of Progress"
or Wikipedia "Progress Trap" Human industrial civilization is part of the progress trap where we based our lives of rugged individualism.

We have globalization for profit, why do we not have globalization for the community? or the general population? Our narcissistic behavior is most likely indoctrinated from media and education system, I don't see the generation before had this kind of behavior. People of our generation usually lack community sense, or even concepts of family.

Your reply is the root of the problem, you are replying my post with economic reasons rather than societal problems. If we don't change the structures of our lives, there will be society collapse.

Can we adapt fast enough is also a problem, our population has gotten to big. Think about smartphones, total global change will take 10-15 years to be widely adopted.  We need strict population control, sustainable life-style, lack of reliance on social media and media for entertainment. Our kids gotta learn agriculture through the school system, etc etc. We need a thread about society problems we are facing, let me organize and we will brainstorm, see what our LYKs can do to help our communities.
