When I was reading this, the distinct impression I got was that this guy was already being really mild in his criticism and delivery of it. It seems to me that in Great China, such delivery methods and tone of voice are the only way people can criticize without getting themselves arrested or put on the watch list.

But from other examples where criticisms of similar intensity has been said before, when things go wrong, they really go wrong in that sense that all hell is breaking loose. From my personal experience of following these news, the intensity and seriousness of the real issues is generally at least 10x more severe than what has been portrayed by these mild criticisms.
