Living in both US and Canada.. I find 一黨專制制度 is no diff. than more 黨專制制度.
At least, in BC HST is still a joke..! Everyone is still out there running a show..., just a matter of which 黨 is running the show...!
Tell me what improvements you see over the last 10 years in Canada or US..!?

Chobit,
I find it hard to believe someone can make a blanket statement like that. The most obvious difference is whether the outcomes have been arrived at by choice or not. The second most obvious difference is how a democratic system puts a limit on how bad things can be.
So a lot of people hate Bush Jr. And guess what happened to him after 8 years? He doesn't get to call the shots anymore because the rules and the system told him to get the hell out of the game. Now tell me what happens in Elder Deng and Emperior Jiang's cases. Both continue to exercise their influence (or even at times, calling all the shots) long after their term in office is done. Can anything be done to stop that?
Yes, the HST is a joke. But that's why you see Van Der Zalm going through with the movement to have it overthrown. This is precisely the beauty of a democratic system at work! Certainly there are some roadblocks along the way, but can you imagine the same thing happening in China? If Grandfather wants something done, it just get done! No and's, or's, or but's!
As Winston Churchill has aptly put it, "democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time".
