Leaving history aside for the moment, China continues to funnel in most of the supplies to continue propping up DPRK. For quite some time now, it makes no sense for the CPC to continue supporting DPRK because all Kim Jong Il does are:

1) come begging for food, $$, and supplies,
2) throw crazy tantrums that embarrass Grandfather and puts Grandfather in a difficult international situation as well

If you want to talk international politics, at least learn the proper acronyms la, moron.

The US already has military installations in Japan, and while Japan is further away from China than Korea is, an airborne attack on China will only be minutes slower. More importantly, if the DPRK threat is gone, the US would have little excuse for a continued military presence in the Korean peninsula. Unlike Japan, Korea has its own military forces, and with the US forces already stretched thin across the globe, it wouldn't be a bad idea for the US to redeploy it's Korea troops elsewhere.

The problem with feeding an ill-tempered dog is that 1) the dog will bite you not only when you don't feed it enough, but also when it throws one of its stupid tantrums. Grandfather certainly has influence on DPRK, but it does not and cannot control the madman at its helm. 2) Keeping and feeding the ill-tempered dog makes you look bad among the international community. The DPRK is little better than terrorist groups like the Al-Qaeda, and Grandfather is the one harbouring this hermit country. Of course, Grandfather only believes that the rest of the world should bow to its will because it is the one country that has the financial resource and economic power to revive the economy. 我屌，你估有錢真係大Q晒嘅咩？

無錯，我只係識果幾個acronyms㗎咋，但係都好過你連呢幾個acronyms都唔識，但就係都要走出來扮勁兼護主。而且，對於狗類動物，我又真係無你呢啲阿爺嘅走狗、lap dog咁熟佢地嘅脾性嘅。

北韓lum咗，美國能夠明目張膽咁響韓國注重兵咩？就算注咗多少軍隊響度，又能夠做啲乜野呢？老共唔係伊拉克、阿富汗，老美夠薑踩過中韓邊界嘅話，老共可以玩嘅手段遠比北韓多。無論係軍事上、國際政治層面上、到金融同經濟上，老共都絕對有能力玩殘老美。所以話步兵無錯係可以進注同佔領，但呢個威脅卻只能夠維持響意識形態上，而無乜實際用途。

再者，其實以今時今日嘅中美關係，經濟上同人力資源上佢地兩個體系根本就係雙生兒、連體嬰。老美靠老共借錢俾佢度日同做生意，而老共就仲大鑊，靠老美買佢啲貨之餘，佢全國啲尖子（當中當然包括高幹子弟）根本就有一大棚人留晒響美國、甚至係早就做晒美國公民（包括唔同領導人嘅子女），亦即係變相自動做晒人哋老美嘅人質。無錯，佢地兩個可以嗌交甚至互打對方一兩拳，但一個痛嘅時候，另外果邊都唔會有好日子過。

而講返朝鮮，當佢越來越變成中共嘅負累，仲唔斬籃就真係太過死蠢。當然，阿爺為咗面子而所做嘅蠢事又可曾少過？

In certain circumstances, China can use North Korea as a bargaining chip or as leverage, when dealing with the imperialist US. Therefore, North Korea still is more of an asset than a liability.

Like now, the US will most likely make concessions on the Chinese currency issue.

GWB is not as stupid as you think. And at the height of the 911 crisis, he easily enjoyed a 90%+ popularity rating.

Compared to Kerry, he was certainly the stronger and more determined leader. Americans deemed that GWB as their president could better protect their country from terrorist attacks, and thus they went ahead to re-elect him. By and large, GWB fulfilled that expectation of the Americans very well.

If you don't understand US politics, don't bother revealing your ignorance la.
