Shame on the (federal) Liberals and NDP!!!
http://www.vancouversun.com/oppo ... /1017518/story.html
My letter to Her Excellency Michaelle Jean, PM Harper, and scumbag Dion/Layton:
To Her Excellency Michaelle Jean, Prime Minister Harper, Mr. Dion, and Mr. Layton,
It is with great disgust and much anger that I am writing to protest against the dirty political ploy put together by the Liberals and the NDP.
I will be quite frank here – when Canadians from coast to coast headed to the polls on October 14, 2008, we have spoken as a whole and voted for the Conservative Party to be our biggest political representatives in the House of Commons. Following our proud nation's long standing democratic traditions, this also means we, as Canadians, have voted for the Conservative Party to lead a minority government on Parliament Hill with the Conservative Party leader, Mr. Stephen Harper, as our Prime Minister. The matter has long been settled – for a good month and a half, Canadians from coast to coast (and this includes members of the Liberal Party and the NDP) have all agreed to honour and respect the results of the federal election and recognize Mr. Harper as our Prime Minister.
Had the Liberals and the NDP wanted to form a coalition government and elect Liberal leader, Mr. Stephane Dion, to be Canada's Prime Minister instead, they should have proposed the plan to Her Excellency, Michaelle Jean immediately following the election. Such a proposal would have deviated from the traditional process of Canadian elections, but at least the sore losers' salvage attempt could be disguised as a fresh political revival to our age-old system.
But time for such opportunities has passed. To call for a Liberal-NDP coalition government to replace the Conservative minority, and to replace Mr. Harper with Mr. Dion as the Prime Minister, is a blatant insult to Canada's long-standing democratic process. After all the political bickering and gesturing, and given all the backroom political dealing and scheming that have been revealed, it is plainly obvious that the Liberal Party and the NDP have no regard for the goods and interests of Canada in their minds. Their only concern is to shamelessly satisfy their lust for power, Canada be damned!
As the Opposition to our minority government, the Liberal-NDP coalition is bestowed with the power to overthrow the Conservative minority government via a vote of (no) confidence. In light of that, I welcome the Liberal-NDP coalition to exercise their right to a no confidence vote. But, following such votes of (no) confidence, the proper procedure under the Canadian democratic process dictates that Her Excellency, Michaelle Jean, must dissolve parliament and call for a new federal election.
Instead of relying on slimey backroom dealings and dirty political scheming to decide who forms our parliament and who serves as our prime minister, I know that nation-wide, Canadians will accept nothing less than the open and fair democratic system that has dutifully served us for over 140 years.
