I think the cost of living is relative affordable in Vancouver, with the exception of real estate.
The  price of rice is not much different from 30 years ago, I paid $25 CDN for a sack of AA Brand Rice
in 1977 when I came to Canada while the minimum wage was $3 per hour.

    I toured some organic diary farms in Abbotsford, the owner reserves some
    unpasteurized milk for his family.  However,  all the milk goes into the vat have to be
    pasteurized and shipped across the nation.
    Some small cheese factories make  raw milk cheese and you can buy raw milk cheese     at  farm markets  if you are lucky.  Urban Fare has some raw milk cheese but they cost a fortune
