to make this whole thing to work ... the restaurants need to invent the next $$$ dish which is environmentally friendly to replace sharkfin soup.  if it's not $$$ then it's a shame for a lot of Chinese families.  May it be the King Crab?

it's the "you are cheap without sharkfin soup" perception we need to battle against.

and the next thing is to lobby TV food show producers NOT to show any sharkfin soup in their shows.

you will be surprised how much of the general public's value system is set by the TV.

i can imagine such a scene:

my grandson is in school, and the teacher shows a video in school telling them these are now extinct spieces.

then one non-chinese kid yells out:  The Chinese ate them all!

just simply ask the government to create a specific tax on sharkfins .. .like they tax tobacco.

I watched the TVB food show yesterday ... looking at the sharkfin wholesaler ... made me sick!

Tin Tin Yau Sic Sun.  starring "To To".

huge shark fins, piles of them. ... reminds me of the whaleshark I saw in the Osaka Aquarium.

Sharks and bluefin Tunas are going extinct.   Geese are not.

"凡事都會自動調節"

No offence, but 調節 into what? a world without sharks?

I simply don't like to see:

a) a species going extinct when we can choose to avoid.
b) Chinese will be blamed for the extinction of sharks.
c) the next generation of human won't be able to see any live shark stock just because this generation choose not to give them a chance.

p.s.  - cruelty is never my argument.
