Backyard chicken coops set to be legalized in Vancouver
Bylaws have strict parameters

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - They're already legal in many major cities across North America, and on Tuesday Vancouver city council is expected to enact a bylaw which allows the keeping of backyard chickens. You'll have to abide by certain rules; coops can contain no more than four hens, and no ostriches or giant turkeys.
The bylaw also has parameters about the size of the enclosure, along with its location on your property. If you were planning on gathering eggs from the deck of your Yaletown apartment or front yard, expect a visit from animal control officers. And sorry West Enders, no chickens will be allowed on balconies. |
