VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Orange County prosecutors say Ryan Jenkins was involved in a high speed boat chase with the U.S. Coast Guard before he disappeared near the border - there is now a $25,000 reward for his capture. The RCMP continue to follow up tips Jenkins may be hiding in Vancouver after he was accused of killing his former wife in Los Angeles. L.A. police were only able to identify the woman's mutilated body by the serial numbers on her breast implants.
Sgt. Duncan Pound from the RCMP Border Integrity Section says there has been no confirmation Jenkins is in our area but his boat was found in Point Roberts. Pound advises that if you see Jenkins, call the police right away, "We're just stressing the safety issue. We don't want people taking the law into their own hands or to go out and grab him or talk to him or deal with the issue, let's leave that to the police."
Several tips have come in to the RCMP and they're being followed up. Sgt. Pound points out it is illegal to help hide a fugitive from the law.
