Customs random inspection of parcels is very common especially if the Ebay seller does not put enough description on the custom declaration label or the value declared is too low for the item. Over the years I have bought over 100 items from Ebay and from Hong Kong and I'd say I have been inspected may be 5 times. If they have opened your package, they will re-seal it and put on a customs tape showing that it has been opened for inspection. I don't buy anything that I need urgently on Ebay because it could be held up at the customs alone for 2 weeks plus the time to send to Canada. But as long as they don't charge me any tax and GST, I don't mind waiting a bit. |
