The main problem is not the low minimum wage in B.C..  It's the high cost of living.
The basic food in B.C. is higher than the most of Canada.  
We should focus on how to lower the cost of living instead of higher minimum wage.
Higher minimum wage = even higher cost of living for the rest of population.
Higher minimum wage = hire less people.
Higher minimum wage = more people get EI.

A jump to $10 is too big to swallow for many small business.
Increase the minimum wage a bit and ALSO figure out how to reduce the basic living expense in B.C. is more appropriate.

To make things worse for BC?

Blindly increase minimum wage without considering the consequence is suicide.  I am sure your daily grocery spending will be increased by 10% or more to compensate the $10/hr.
How does that help the poor?
