Most walk in clinics are extremely busy so the doctors don't like to spend much time on a one time patient. (Some offices are 2 hours wait even each patient visit is just about 5 minutes) Also, they don't have your medical history, so they prefer not to prescribe any medicines for you, as they will be responsible for it if your condition got worse or end up at the hospital after taking his medicines.

I don't think there is in here, because BC is pretty much running public medical system when all doctor visits are free as long as you are BC residents. However, Hong Kong has both public and private medical systems co-exist, so if you don't want to pay to go to private clinic in Hong Kong, then you got to go to the hospital.
