Shaw Cable Rate Increases again?

I am just wondering how much LYK are paying for TV+Internet?!!

I just received my cable bill and noticed they had increased their rate again, thanks to the HST. I don't have anything fancy. Just basic cable + regular High Speed Internet + the Asian TV Pack, which includes Fridge TV and some mandarin TV that I never watch (My gf watches satellite tvb news everyday and i force to keep this package).

Before HST, i was paying $88.10, and now it becomes $90.28.

I remember one year ago the total was around $80.  I won't be surprised the total will become $95 by the end of the year...

ask your gf to d/l the news instead so you can scrap the pkg

Not really possible la, and news video on tvb.com is crazy slow and blocks oversea users as well.

For Shaw, I think the Chinese TV is $7 (and $20 for Telus), but those basic TV and internet cost a lot.

So for $90, there are 1 to 2 years old tvb drama, strange Cantonese news that are "copy and paste" 80% from CBC and Global TV, and not too fast internet (with no access to HK website for last 2 days). How "amazing" is this...

By the way habitrailspace, if you are paying $108 on May, you will properly pay an extra few dollars because of the HST

What do you mean $7 for Chinese TV? Fairchild, and Talentvision?

Yes, it costs $7 for the Asian TV Pack, which includes four Chinese channels- FTV East+West, Phoenix and Talentvision.

Just call them and choose to cancel the service, you can then ask for the retention plan which shoul ...

Thanks Philip! I followed your advice and was able to lower my bill.
For $82.77 (HST included) - phone (with unlimited LD to Hong Kong), Internet, Basic TV with Fridge.  But no HD and anything else (because she told me I am not with Shaw long enough?!) Is this a good or bad deal??

$69 is very good. Probably lowest of all.

Philip: Your deal is much better than mine. I guess my bargaining skill is not good enough, but i will properly stay with the deal that i got today, as i think it will be hard to get more "extra" from them...

fm9610: $69 is real good. Is this a promotion price for a shorter period (like 6 months) or for the whole year?

saotome: You may want to call Shaw and press "3" on the menu to cancel the service. Say you want to cancel the service and they will properly give you a customized offer. The Asian TV Pack does not listed on Shaw website, but if you call them they will add this to your account instantly.

Peter236: From what I heard, this Asian TV Package is good until Feb 2011.
