Of course you can suggest to farm shark, and panda and tiger whale and dolphin and bear. But how possible and feasible is it? I'm talking about the nature not the money cost.

Yea we are lucky to have zoo and aquarium today. Unfortunately our kids will have no chance to see live whale, dolphin, shark, tiger, panda, bear, crocodile, ............ those can only be seen in TV and museum, so sad.

chunsh, I think you and us prefer friendly discussion with valid point la, right? The fact is, animals don't have a sense to protect the earth like human do. The 'protect the environment' concept is basically and solely to human. Please also do more study and research, do you know how long apart between each birth period and how many offspring can a mother shark give birth each time compare to a mother pig, sheep, cow, chicken, fish, abalone, crabs, shrimps?

But if you wanna argue whether we human is doing anything to harm the earth, should we separate the ways into intentionally or unintentionally? Killing sharks is intentional, but farting (if farting will harm) is not, for example. LOL

chunsh, no one here want to convince you or laugh at you or look down you. You are more than welcome not joining the contest, feel free to eat shark fin or whatever makes you happy. People like to stop eating shark fin and join the wedding contest is their own business. Members sharing their (our) ideas here is for sharing purpose, no one ask you directly to stop eating shark fin, I think. What makes you so angry and defensive?

The topic here only related to shark fin at chinese wedding banquets, not other issues. We can talk about these kind of issues in some new threads. But make it short, how many blue fin tuna have being killed by people in other countries doesn't make us eating shark fin here a must thing to do. Right?

But if you want to talk in that attitude, ok, so you mean since everyone is doing something whatever, no matter eat shark fin or not, will harm the earth in some ways, then we can simply feel free to keep harming it without any concern? And the alternative is to kill all human race in order to keep the earth in peace or more peaceful? Please tell us what you want to do, what's your solution?

I'm glad that it's only an assumption but not the truth. You know, perhaps shark fin shop will existinguish one day just like the ivory shops did. Who knows.
