As far as German car goes... want sporty go BMW, want luxury go Mercedez, want pretty go Audi, want value go for VW.

And...

If you can afford a car close to 50k, 4WD or not, do everyone a favor and buy your self a dedicated set of winter tires. I think this generation of German car is pretty good overall. You can't go wrong with any of the above choices IMO. Go with your heart and enjoy your new car~

The contenders mentioned, BMW, Audi, Merc, VW, even the Buick, all have TCS and VSA/DCS, etc... In fact, I don't think they sell any cars in Canada without ABS nowadays....

When it comes down to snow tires vs AWD. AWD helps you get moving, won't do sh_t when you are trying to stop or turn. Snow tire is what's been ordered. This is physics, not up for debate like some anti-China/anti-Western discussion. Learn the fact, save yourself and save others. Drive safe.
