I'm looking to buy a small house in Richmond, but there's an electronic transformer and a fire hydrant in the front yard, I would like to know if this will hurt me in the future if I try to re-sell the house ? Will you buy a house with this 2 things in your yard?
There are so many houses in Richmond with an electronic transformer in front.. anyone have one in their yard? Please share the experience... any noise? health problems? Thanks
Nope, they are asking a market price, but i haven't put in an offer yet. If i do, they may drop a little bit i guess... Just when i drove around the block, i seem some houses with the transformer, some with the fire hydrant, they rarely have both items in the same yard!!! =(
i think is not a good idea to pick corner house in Richmond...?!
Thanks for answering... i don't know they have noise... well, i guess i will need to go look at the house again then... The reason why i want a corner lot is because i am living in a corner lot in Vancouver now. They have more windows, is brighter, more parking... but of coz more garden work too.. =)
we are buying to live, and we don't move that often (current house we lived for 18 yrs.)
but u never know what's going on later in life, right? espically, this is the first time we move to Richmond. I just want to make sure if one day i want to move again, i can sell the house without headache. Personally i don't mind the fire hydrunt too, is cheaper insurance i think... but a fire hydrunt and a power box together in the same yard? i am not so sure.. i think if they can drop 5-7% of the asking price i may buy it thou...
Before you move to Richmond, you may want to get a quote on the house insurance and especially on ea ...

first of all, the budget that i have is little, now a days, a very small old house is costing 800k-900k, even for Richmond! And i am looking around West Cambie, Garden City or Riverdale area only, i don't want to be too far away. This 3 areas add up have no more than 25 houses for sale thats under 1 million... so i really don't have many choices...
ohhh i actually believe in feng shui too! I am thinking should i find a feng shui Master to go take a look first~ if it's not too expensive! And I agree that they are a complete eyesore... but the "look" is not what i am worrying, as Landscaping around the box could make the outside more attractive, and maybe.. lower down the noise?! I am more concerning on the health problem and the property's future selling value...

i am looking at the cheapest houses in Richmond..If it's Vancouver, for the same price i could only get a house like 40-50 years olds or more.. i think the whole Vancouver housing market is so so so over price!!! not just richmond..
well. Thanks for everyone's comment. I really like the house, is beside a park and the area is not bad. but too bad, when i try to put in an offer, the house accepted someone's offer. So, i need to keep looking~ hope i can find my dream house soon, and next time will not have this 2 items in the yard~
yes. but still very sad when i got the reply. Took me 3 weekends to look all around Richmond, then i finally found one.. and i just used 2 days to think, next thing... is gone! 2 days?! next time if i see sth i like, maybe i need to put in an offer right away!?!? lol
