It really depends on what your interests are...LA, LV, San Diego are full of different activities
you can goto the San Diego Zoo, Universal Studios, Disneyland, Hollywood...etc

or you can go for food or shopping or gambling

but one thing..it's super duper hot down there in the summer..especially in San Diego. Be well prepared (lots of water) because it's gonna be expensive at the tourist hotspots to buy drinking water. If you goto the amusement parks, you will see that they have fans that spray cold water on the tourists to cool them down
