Once we received a phone call from a collection company too...they said my husband owe Shaw 2 months of service charge from 6 years ago. We kept asking them for the name on the bill as well as the address that was owing money...so they told us the info and send us a letter. Turns out the name AND the address was wrong!! It wasn't us at all...so I ended up calling Shaw and telling them to tell the collection agency to stop calling us and to remove the collection report. In the end, after 4 weeks and non-stop calling, they finally send us an apology letter and a letter from the credit bureau proving that they had removed the collection from our credit.

So even if you get the problem resolved, MAKE SURE they remove the info from your credit report. Also get them to pay for a credit report and send you a letter to prove that you in fact did not owe any money.

I'm too mad today, I forgot to ask the phone # to call back....what should I do now, I never get any statement...

Even if they don't call you back...i'm sure the collection agency will send you a threatening letter soon. And usually the phone numbers they give you to call back are useless...its usually some directory or operator that will refuse to connect you to the person dealing with your file.

Better yet, contact one of the credit bureaus, get your credit report and see which company placed the claim on your file.
