I use Avent microwave bottle steamer...works excellent! (costs a bit when purchase new so shop around for used ones, wash it thoroughly and it'll be just as good as new).
It is so convenient to use t ...
i used this for my son too...but i only sterilized the bottles/nipples for first-time-use only..haha...then i never used the sterilizer again!
by the way, the nurses/doctors here all say that sterilization is not necessary unless you're afraid that washing with tap water might cause contamination..and for those parents who decided to sterilize, it is only necessary to sterilize for the first three months..
i only sterilized the new bottles/nipples..then i just use warm soapy water to wash the stuff after each use..and my baby has never been sick (he's 1 years old now). i just use tap water to wash the pumps, bottles and everything too...didn't even sterilize anything when i went back to HK either.
sterilization was only popular in the past because of the poor quality of the tap water..nowadays, our tap water might even be better than bottled water..@[email protected] don't see the need to sterilize my baby's stuff. also i'd rather have him exposed to the small bacteria and get him used to a normal everyday contaminants rather than to keep him in a "bubble"..because eventually he'll meet other kids, goto daycare, goto school..and if he was so protected, he might get sick too easily by small weak bacteria/viruses
ha..i'm a lazy mum but so far, my idea of 大菌食細菌 has worked
P.S. i got my sterilizer from value village...for $3 CAD! i've also found really good quality baby bottle warmers etc for $5..
it seems the richmond store has a lot of new parents donating stuff..a lot of the stuff is rarely used, almost brand new and complete..and they're about 1/10 of the price of a new thing...so you might want to check it out. i think i've also seen an electric sterilizer for about $20 there.
