baby carrier..we have the snugli and also baby bjorn
it really depends on how often and how long you will carry the baby for..

if it's just for a short shopping trip, an inexpensive snugli is enough
but if you are going to carry baby for more than 1 hr...i would strongly suggest you try to get a baby bjorn

the babiesrus/toysrus in new west/coquitlam has all the baby carriers for you to try before you buy
we tried...snugli, eddie bauer, baby bjorn classic, sling

after trying all those, the baby bjorn was the best and most comfortable one to use

although you can try to snugli, the straps will make your shoulders sore very easily. it is best to get something with back support..something that will be close to the middle of your back so the weight is evenly distributed

also..we got our baby bjorn at a swap meet...or you can check out craiglist
the regular price is $100 but we got one for $30

or if you tried a snugli and you want one..haha..i can sell one to you too.

but like what shutterbug said..you need to try these on before you buy. go to the toysrus and use their sample and carry the baby around for a while and see how you fee

oops..forgot to mention baby legs...
baby legs are quite expensive here (i think $15 - $20?). you can make your own by cutting adult socks! just cut the bottom off and 套 it onto the baby's legs
also...i think their main purpose is to look nice and cute on a baby..not necessary useful unless your baby is crawling on gravel..haha..
we have carpet everywhere here..so there's really no need to use baby legs. instead you can get baby stockings if you want to keep your baby's legs warm

in HK, i find that they sell a lot of cute but useless stuff for babies...especially at shops like 荷花..because in HK, kids are a big market. most kids clothes in HK are more expensive than adults because parents are willing to buy buy buy for their 金菠蘿.

and also the baby carriers in HK are just 翻版 of what they sell here..of course with a different name. I saw "baby lucky" (looks EXACTLY and designed 100% like baby bjorn) in HK for $199.

i agree baby bjorn is great, hopefully you can find one at a swap meet.

i used combi and aprica, they both work well.

the combi ones I saw in HK were about $700..that's almost the same price as baby bjorn!

I 'm sorry that out of topic ...what is swapmeet?

swap meets are a HUGE garage sale..usually inside a community centre. Kids swap meet sellers are only allowed to sell baby - 12 year old stuff. So..there are lots of baby clothes, strollers, carriers, toys...anything you can think of that is related to a baby or a kid. There are also car seats, breastpump..etc. There are some free swapmeets but usually they are smaller (maybe 30-40 tables?). The paid swap meets ($1 - $5 admission) usually have maybe 100 tables or 2 gyms full of items for sale.

the website above will let you know of when and where all the swap meets are!
I love going to the one in Cloverdale because they are the least expensive and people are quite generous. The ones in Richmond always sell expensive and pretty worn stuff.

今日去左Richmond Toys R Us 睇Babyjborn的carrier,連個sales都攪唔掂點扣法,BB又cranky,結果都無試得成功。

如果試岩,叫人係香港買會唔會平D?

there is no baby bjorn in HK..i searched everywhere. but they have "baby lucky" which is A LOT cheaper and the same design..but I'm not sure about the quality. Baby Lucky is made in China, Baby Bjorn is made in sweden.

唔係丫,Baby Kingdom 網址D網友講香港 Mothercare 有得賣,我打左去沙田個間 Mothercare 問左,regular 個隻HK$850, active 個隻 $950。

比呢度平成倍,我都係叫人係香港買啦。 ...

oh...that's a good price than. but I think it's pretty cheap in the states too. At least you don't have to pay tax in HK.

I've seen a lot of people using the Active because it has back support. I guess it depends on your needs and budget. If you are going to use the babybjorn for short trips, an original might be enough. If you are going to carry baby for more than a couple of hours, an Active will give you more support. As for air, it's good for summer because it's suppose to bring the sweat away from the baby. Trust me, it gets VERY sweaty and hot when you are carrying a baby.

but the original is probably the easiest to wear. it always takes 2 person to get it on right..haha

sling,,i've tried using a sling too. It's great for putting baby to sleep and it's small when folded..but it can also be a bit tight for the baby when she gets bigger. It also depends on the adult wearing it..you need to get the appropriate sized sling for different sized people. For example, when I use the sling I have (jellybean), baby fits well..but when my husband wears it (he's 8 inches taller than me) the baby can hardly breathe or fit into the sling...

but a sling is really portable and small when folded..but i always feel it is easy for the baby to crawl out or fall out...so..i never really used a sling

also for the baby bjorn, you can get it with different strap lengths. There are several versions..some for shorter people, some for average (the ones you usually see) and also there are ones with a longer strap. You have to check the label on the baby bjorn to know which one it is..if you have the "longer-straps for taller persons" , it will not fit well with an average person. Luckily the one we got at the swap meet has a longer strap..so i don't have to carry the baby and my husband does..haha
