China to build 30 marine law enforcement ships

An official said China will build 30 marine law enforcement ships in the next five years, Chinanews.com.cn reported on Monday.

Li Lixin, director-general of the South China Sea Branch, State Oceanic Administration, said that China will build 30 marine law enforcement boats in the next five years, to improve its maritime administration ability.

Li said that compared with developed countries, China's maritime administration ability was not strong, as China has fewer and smaller marine law enforcement ships.

From the end of 2010 to the beginning of 2011, six marine law enforcement boats would go into service.

China Marine Surveillance No 83, which started working at the end of July, is one of the most advanced marine law enforcement at present.
