Anyone planning a wedding in 2012?

Just got enagaged last month. Planning for a wedding maybe late summer/fall. Is it a bit too rush?

Any bride/groom to be here would like to share idea?

I guess the first thing to do is to set a date then look for venue (ceremony/reception).

We are still thinking whether to have Chinese banquet or western style. For us, we don't have many friends and relatives so it will be a small size (~50 to 80 guests? depending on if the overseas relatives will attend)

For the same number of guests, is it more cost efficient to have western style (ceremony/reception in the same place)?
Most of the guests are Chinese except our co-workers, so it seems a bit strange to hold western style. But the Chinese banquet may cost significant more as it count by table of 10, and I heard some restaurants do not show you all the hidden extra until you get closed to it. ( This is just my thoughts, and not sure if it is right).

Any married lyk would like to share their ideas/experiences are welcome too.

Thanks alot for the advices! We porbably will go with Chinese banquet, as we are more familiar with it, and western co-workers seem like to see different culture as well.

I checked ceremony places online, the rental price went way up in the past couple years.
Also, some nice places like golf club need you to book both ceremony and reception at the place.

Haven't look into banquet places yet so no idea for now.

Any recommendations for mid-range ceremony venue?
Chinese restaurant for banquet in Lower mainland area?

or at least any places we should avoid?

Thanks again

Centennial Lodge is one of the places in my options, price seems reasonable but I have never been to there, I will go there to have a look first. We are thinking of having cocktail style refreshment after the ceremony, hopefully they would accomodate both in the same place.

Creekside looks very nice but it was just me I prefer places with free parking.

I just found Burnaby Village Museum Chapel, it fits number of our guests, will check it out.

It seems many popular places like Minoru Chapel, QE has pretty much booked up in September. I thought people prefer to host wedding in Summer in Vancouver...

Which venue did you end up with?
