    Yes my mom loves shark fin. But as I said, I don't order it if I go out dining on my own. And I'm happy to see people become more aware of impact on over-eating shark fin.

I guess you think there is a problem displaying a picture of it? Just like...if you are veggie if I show a picture of meat dishes then there is a problem? hm...

Just to clarify, I do start the topic with parents that eating sharkfin is not good...And you don't want to know how badly the conversation ends. But I do tell her to order less portion. Picture shows my mom's "bowl", which I had a spoon of it.

I agree that blue fin tuna is just yummy~~~~that I already give up~~
But shark fin...is like part of the culture and it's hard to change what parents or older generation thinks. All I can do is that I don't order it myself, and then to tell my kid (if I have) to not eat it as well.

believe me, it took YEARS before I can convience my mom to stop buying, cooking, ordering and eatin ...

    I don't see my parents as often now. Whenever I see them (like once a year) and when they want to treat me a nice meal (or vice versa), I don't want to begin a topic that I'm not going to eat this or that ..or...eating sharkfin is not good.....And getting reply like " 我仲食得幾多年。。。"...

Substituting shark fin to bird nest isn't that good either...number of bird goes down because they got no where to stay... (no nest)...

    I never heard of 人工燕窩山 ... dunno about bird nests can be cultivated too...In that case I guess it's ok to eat?

    I think bird nest has no taste. That's why need to go with almond or coconut juice or with papaya.
I just "hope" to have good skin gee mah!!!  

I don't cook it myself la...my friend does. He said that the "cooking" part is easy...the "cleaning part" (i.e. picking the feather) is not difficult either...just time consuming.
