installed on a  40 gig harddisk  with the key microsoft sent me via hotmail

i just pull out my regular harddisk, and put this 40 gig harddisk in and try out
windows 7
i suggest people interested in windows 7 do the same
a good used 49 gig harddisk is probably $10

first off, windows 7  does not recognize the video card, the sound card,
and the modem
this lack of hardware intellegent appear to be like windows vista

similarly windows 7 accepts the windows xp drivers for the modem and the sound card

what is new with windows 7 is
in windows update,  it actually provides the drivers for the  video card and the
on board sound card
the video card only supports DX9, ( i think a DX9 video card is not fully functional in
windows vista, but i hope it flies in windows 7 )

  size  is 2.4 gb

  with a wired highspeed  connection , its less than 1 hour
compare with  using a wireless g , usb adaptor , its estimated to be 2 hours 30 minutes

i have downloaded  another build of windows 7
build 7227

but it turned out to be in vhd format

any one know of any simple instructions on what to do with this file
my goal is to replace  windows 7 on a harddrive petition with this build

vhd is virtual hard disk format made by microsoft. you can load it in virtual pc 2007 to setup a virtual machine.

maanmo know all along, trying out  this  vdh  file is playing with fire.
so maanmo takes a few days off to enjoy life , knowing that he may take the
ultimate sacrifice  in trying out windows 7 in vdh format
now maanmo is looking for  a hammer to hit it on his head to crack the  answers

my goal is to install this windows 7 in (vhd) on a harddrive which already has a version of windows 7,  preferably wiping out the old version and sits on the harddrive as a real thing.
but
what is  virtual pc 2007 ?
when i do find it on my harddrive,   how do i load  the vdh file  , from where ?
load it from a DVD ?
and then  after loading it  where do i set up the virtual machine,  on the hard drive ?
what happen to the earlier version of windows 7  , is it still there?

in the software forum  where i  get software infor,   the build to get now is
build 7260
  it is not important to keep the new builds, because one has always to make room for  newer builds

  one wants to try these builds, because, deep inside our heart , there is a dream,
  that microsoft will come up with something fantastic..

there is one problem of course,  people who can build fantastic os  , somehow failed to get hired by microsoft,
even if they are hired , the corporate enviroment of microsoft  will make these talents difficult to grow

   if you google search " windows 7 build 7227 "
you will find webpages disscussing these builds,   on one webpage
it is said these builds are available from the " usual sources "
i dont know what these usual souces are
  but for many years, now, i get my software support from forum such as the one below

you have never burned any iso files  and see them boot succesfully?
is that your problem ?

i have download  windows 7, 7260  in iso format and burned to dvd using nero

installed , but i found this version of windows 7,  does not allow me to install optional language packs

my test lap top for windows 7

is a dell  pentium 4  1.6ghz, 500mb ram, 40 g harddrive
a 32mb nvidia geforce2 go  video card,

this is a good test machine for windows 7, as it is below the minimum hardware requirment

windows 7 does not have drivers for the video card, the sound, the network
however once i installed the  x p drivers from dell, windows 7 has updates for the sound and network card.
however windows 7  has good driver for the usb wireless adaptor

i am now testing  build 7264
indeed , i dont think it takes that treasured key from microsoft

now it becomes a game of making my copy of 7264 genuine with
an activator
i have used this activator  a dozen times with peculiar results, just like a game
the non genuine tag has appeared a couple of time, i can run the activator to make the tag disappear..
so far i have not been able to get any updates from microsoft
i imagine its not going to be likely my 7264 will get any updates from microsoft
perhaps  there is no need for updates as we expect another build for 32 bit machine to appear soon

when i was testing  the first rc build 7200, i was able to download  the chinese language pack from microsoft update
for build 7254 i search the web " windows 7,7264, language pack download"

a check  with the world, and i see build 7600 32bit, is now available

so i can just let build 7264  expires in 30 days

one thing i am pleased with windows 7 is  i can still install the little cantonese input method
that allows me to input chinese  without going online to  cantoneseiput.com

have been using build 7600 for several weeks now,  there were about 2 weeks left for the trial period

basically trying out windows 7 , is just a game of getting it genuinized

i have tried to genuinize  windows 7 several times without success
to day  i try the newest version

If You DON'T Have Slic 2.1 in BIOS:
Make sure you are disconnected from the internet.
1. Right click .exe, select run as administrator
2. Click on Uninstall 7Loader and remove OEM logo,wait, reboot
3. Right click .exe, select run as administrator
4. On the list find your name of motherboard
5. Click on the icon (installing OEM info)
6. Click on Activate Windows
7. Restart (in my case it was automatic)
8. Right click .exe, select run as administrator
9. Click on 7 Activation Status

Note: Step 9 is a Anti WGA Blacklister which stops your from getting blacklisted when doing windows updates so you MUST make sure you dobthe last step.






What is SLIC 2.1?
When ever you buy a pc/laptop from a vendor like Dell, Acer, IBM etc they come with SLIC bios. SLIC basicly contains tables that contain OEM information(Original Equiepment Manufacturer).this technology is embedded in the bios of the computer. the main advantage of this technology is that when M$ makes operating systems, they create a product key for each DVD that they are selling so that it can be installed only by the buyer. However when it comes to mass distrubution like Dell Acer, they create a RTM copy so that the dvd that is sent to Dell will only work on dell machines and non other. again this is varified by the DVD from the BIOS of the compter which has the SLIC infomation.Now when Vista was launched SLIC v 2.0 was created and all the laptops/Pcs that hit the marked from a vendor came with that version.Now when people installed vista from the OEM DVD in the OEM machine they never asked for any product key and it was already activated whareas if the same DVD is used for installation in any other Pc (Non OEM) then it will ask for a product key and also you would need to activate the product with in a period of time. So the hacks that came out for Vista was a Bios emulator which actually emulated the Bios of a real OEM , and it used to load while booting and post boot the certificates used to pass thinking it was a OEM. That was SLIC 2.0. but now M$ came up with SLIC 2.1, that means the laptops that has 2.0 will not install and activate DVDs created for 2.1. But hopefully we will have a 2.1 emulater for windows 7 soon that can be installed on customized PC/laptops like mine.
