WOW .. so .. FINALLY !!

HEAD TO HEAD GAME !!

Last ~ 2 yr .  Nikon and Canon .  they dont play head to head game ..   since they know they are the big brothers .. but now .  Nikon really SHOW HAND ..  we all expect D90 ..  but is announce D700 ..  while Canon .  we all expect 5DII ( or 3D )   they make the 1000D ..  
Last few yr ..  

D40<D40X/D60<400D/450D<D80<40D<300D<5D<1D3<D3<1DsIII

Now .  D700 ..  head to head to 5D area wor .. ( 5D II )

Again..  doesn't matter to us (me)  Canon users ..  

Good news is .. this is a $3000 US camera, mean it will be ~ $3300 cad, and it is Nikon, so won't be avalible untill Oct/Nov  ..  mean the new 5D II will be $3,000 plus as well ..

Dont think the new D700 ..  will make D300 price drop ..

I mean, price drop for DC is normal .. doesn't matter if new body is out or not ..

$16xx  US, vs $17xx cad, is about the same, after you do the exchange rate, shipping ..  duty ( sometimes ) then about the same ..

Also, D700 is $3xxx camera, and won't be out for few months, D300 is $1xxx ..  

Can't wait too much la..   just like if 5D II is out, it won't affect 40D price ..

Yeah ..   $2999 ..   US .. will be ~ $3100 cad, plus ~ $80 shipping, and handling fee ..

So .. $100 cheaper to buy in US .. not worth!

You know what ..  my wife asked me to buy D700 for her la..  lol

Again, I dont think D700 will push Nikon to drop the proice of D300 .. well, price will drop anyway, (all the time)  but  is that because of a new and way more expensive body coming out??

For sure, when D700 is out, then the USED price for D300 will drop .. but not really for new one ..   we are comparing a $16xx camera and a $32xx ..  

Just like Porsche just release the $270K GT2 ..   will they drop the price on a 911 ??
