「人情」悉數全歸男家 ??

that doesn't make sense wor .. usually male bride side keep the yan ching?

I think usually HK newly wed need to use the 人情 to pay banquet bill, isn't it true?

Not only HK la..  here as well ..  lol

人情 will never enough to cover the cost of banquet .. lucky to cover half ..  ( may be in HK, not here )

However, if that 21 yr old dude agree to pay 禮金2.9萬 ...  then it make sense for him to use the yan ching to cover part of the banquet .. ( and he pays for the banquet too )

Oh well ..  sad anyway la...

小弟估計, 當年結婚收既人情, 一定夠cover 酒席有多.

Well, also depends when did u get marry la...   even in Canada ..  5 - 7 years ago ..  if chinese banquet .. Yan Ching may be ok to cover .. ( you need to tell your friends, u want YAN CHING, not gift .. )

But last few years ..  any decent chinese banquet will be ~ $80 per head ..  Hotel will be ~ $120 per head .. when average YAN CHING is still $50-80 ..   

PLUS .. most people do GIFT here ..
