Wall paint is another area of study. That`s why people hire paint consultant for help.
There is no such thing as good or bad color. It`s how you put put it together and where, what effect you want to have, and what you want to draw from it (ie: mood, space, etc) that allows you to take full advantage of colors!

To simplify a bit for you, you need to put a few things into consideration.
(not in the order of importance)
1. The size of your room (you want it to appear large or small)
2. How long you plan to stay with the color that you choose
3. Does it match with your existing furniture or you plan to get new ones
4. Be prepare to see a difference in color depending on time of day
5. How does it flow with the rest of your home
6. How it will affect you psychologically
7. Do you want a feature wall
8. Does it match with your floor and ceiling color
9. The type of lighting in your room
10. Do you plan to have other options such as wallpaper to incorporate with your paint.
11. Paint the entire room or a specific wall.
12. If your existing furniture doesn`t go with your desired color, how you can still make them work without having to replace everything.

If you don`t care but just want to paint whatever color you like, then go for it! However, be prepare to spend extra money to redo it shortly after because it doesn`t sit well after all. Things may appear to be beautiful alone but can be ugly when put together the wrong way.

Hope this helps you on making the right choice!

I wouldn't put fluorescent lamp in our bedroom.  The bright white is close to the day-time lighting and good for your work space or office.  You wouldn't want that in your bedroom.

Benjamin Moore or not?  It is up to your budget and how long you expect the paint to last (decolor/fading/peel off).  There is nothing both good and cheap.  Ask Zuesel and she may tell you where-else she could get discounted paint.

okay, study area is different story then.  You will need two set of lights like you said.

Paint, furniture, tiles, etc only give discounts to trades (decorators, designers, contractors, etc).

Instead of yellow bulbs, you can get white/soft white ones. As far as decor is concerned, fluorescent light tubes makes color appear flat and lifeless. Best is study at your desk with a desk lamp if it's convenient for you.

as far as your pink paint turning grey has to do with your lighting choice and the quality of paint. Most of the paint these days are water-based which has its advantages but don't hold the color very good. BM's new line of Aura is targeted to last longer.
