At the driver's position...

1) sitting at the most dangerous spot of the vehicle...
2) hands were trapped on the wheel...
3) a riffle at the back, and you can only look forward...
4) gunman started to shoot, the fellow sitting next to/behind you was killed...
5) police started shooting the vehicle (he doesn't know they are aiming the tires)...
6) what you heard is bang, bang, bang and casualities started to yell...

I don't know what else can you expect from him after he's escaped... I really can't tell...

To not say 'everyone is dead' when he doesn't know, that's all I expect.

I don't think I will climb out of a hostage situation and say everyone is dead unless I witness it with my own eyes that every one was shot. I'll probably just come out in shock and not say anything or say 'know nth', etc.

Your answer only works for a person who has calm down but not a terribly scared situation... remember when the bullet holes started showing on the front windshield... how can we expect him to well organize his speech if his mind has gone wild...

I was blaming the driver too .. however, those drivers in south-east asia, are not like drivers here, most of them, can't even talk well ..  

Well, it is sad, let's hope it won't happen again, and if it happens again, hope the filipino government can handle better.
