Actually I just got half a bottle of Marsala from my friend who is moving and I have some mushrooms too. What is the simple way of doing it? I saw a few recipe online and they asked for diff type of herbs. What is the authenticway of doing it?

As I said, Chicken Marsala is a simple dish, I would use  chopped shallots, rosemary,sage, thyme and Italian parsley as the song Scarborough Fair, no, just buy a package of fresh "Poultry Herb" for about $2, it contain all 4 herbs. Any leftover can be frozen for later use.
Marsala wine is very versatile in Italian cooking, the most famous one is Zabaglione, served warm over raspberries,  used in Tiramisu,  Semi-freddo, Gelato, Mousse,
Zuppa Inglese.  Or savory sauce for panfried fish,  roasted Rack of Pork, Invotini etc. or drink it like Sherry wine.
