Metal Gear 1 + 2 --> Solid Snake vs Big Boss (Naked Snake)
MGS 1 --> Solid Snake vs Liquid Snake --> Modern days
MGS 2 --> Solid Snake + Raiden vs Liquid Ocelot --> After MGS 1
MGS 3 --> Naked Snake (Big Boss), the original gene owner --> After Cold War
MGS 4 --> Old Solid Snake --> Near Future
Solid Snake + Liquid Snake are brothers who were genetically creatd through the Genome Project that was developed by Fox Die, an organization that was created by Big Boss, also known as Naked Snake (from MGS3, MG1 and MG2)
From MGS 1 to MGS 2, you can see that Solid Snake had aged quite a bit after merely just a few years.
Apparently, there is a fatal flaw in the Genome Project that involves rapidly aging genes.
This is also the reason why in MGS 4, Snake had aged so badly...
The eye patch is merely a tool in MGS 4, it apparently enhances Solid Snake's sights and many other abilities.
As for the Eye patch for Naked Snake in MGS 3, Big boss lost his eye, remember?
I wonder how you can skip all the cinematics and political plots for the MGS series and call yourself a fan...
You better play the entire series over again and actually digest the story once and for all, there are many interesting points that were brought up in the MGS2 perfect ending that will relate directly with MGS4, keep an eye on those alright?

The first MGS i've play was in japanese thats was almost 10 yrs ago,
which i can't understand the complicated storyline. haha.
