Any experience on buying cars in USA?

Hello everyone, I have been looking for a 6th gen celica, 5th gen prelude or 2nd gen eclispe, in red colour, at the range of $5k to $7k, manuel.  However, I don't have any luck in the search for half a year.

Therefore, I am thinking getting a car in USA.  Does anyone have any experience or where to look at?  The only place I can think of is ebay, but i am not sure is it reliable.

many folks did bring them in, one person bought honda s2000 from Bellingham,  except all services has to go south.
J cars are more reliable, if it were a Jag u needed it to be towed across to get fix, is not going to be funny at all.

My fnd says is a bit of work, also has to sit in Canada for 10 days b4 all paper work cleared, ofcourse e saved some $$, but depends on your free time too.

I tried on finding cars on Craiglist, but since most of the eclispe and celica before 1999 are from USA, why don't I get the car from USA instead?  It makes sense, isn't it?

I am looking for 2nd hand, not first hand, so I would not have worry on the warranty part.  I just wonder does anyone know any good 2nd store or dealer at USA....preferred in Seatlee or somewhere close to Vancovuer .  If so, pleaes PM me.

was there a rule need to be 15 yrs older or brand new cars?

no, that 15(or 12 or 20, forgot the number) doesnt apply in most case, if u want to import relative new model car, u need to make sure it is admissible, go RIV.ca to check which car is and which car is not, because there are those day time driving lights and low speed accident things the car has to meet before you can import it here,

i was looking into importing a car from states too, 2nd hand is A LOT easier since many dealers don't sell to canadians. right now still debating with myself if i want to bring in a used 370z.

also, this does not apply to you, but if u r bringing in a relative new car, check with BOTH usa and canadian dealer, and headquarter, to see if USA warranty will be honoured here. for example, canadian subaru won't fix your car for free, but u can send the bill to subaru usa and they will pay u back...etc

as with having to sit in canada for 10-15 days here, that is not true, after u bring it in, all u need is bring it to canadian tire (in most cases), get it inspected, once passed the inspection, get your car registered and insured and then viola, get on the road baby.

Thank you for the reply.  yeah, if it is imported from outside of North America, then yes, maybe 15 years.  The car i really want is celica GT4 generation 6.  it's only for Japanese market, but some are being produced in USA, and absolutely zero in Canada.  But personally I think it's the best looking Celica in all generations.  The last generation looks so ugly, cannot match with gen 6.



An used gen 6 Celica is usually importted from USA and then being totally abused along with high mileage, and the disappointing thing is that the current market  only has gen 7 or before gen 5.   Somehow there is almost no gen 6 here!  Not that I am not willing to take an abused car and fixed it, but there is no car for me to take!

Hey Gianttama, how do you find a reliable 2nd hand dealer in USA?  That's the key problem I am having.
