Do I need iPhone to replace my Nokia E71 iPhone, Nokia, need, replace

I got a discounted unlocked Nokia E71 from Nokia Canada last year.  It works fine with Telus HDPA 3G+ network but it doesn't read Chinese web page or text message in Chinese, especially when I was travelling in China-HK-Taiwan.  The Telus guy told me only iPhone in their 3G+ network is able to read/send/input Chinese.  Giving that more and more app and accessories are designed for iPhone (does it dominate the smartphone market), my E71 looks like a white elephant.  More worse, my E71 is under Rogers' network setup and it has difficulty to add any data plan from Telus .   
Is this a good time to switch to iPhone camp by signing a 3-yr contact with Telus to get a discounted iPhone or to wait for the next generation iPhone on market ?
Or there are other smartphone on the market that work well with Telus 3G+ network and Chinese ?

Nokia E71/E72 are quite popular models, I think all you need is a firmware flash in order to read/write chinese characters.

umm...If you can use Telus' HSDPA then why is it difficult to add data plan?

Nokia got it own apps store (the ovi), well, it doesn't have as many apps as iphone app store, but I am sure you can find most useful apps there as you need.

well, I think the E71 is capable to do most of the stuffs an iphone can do, and switching to iphone can get you a big touch screen, fancy interface, more memory and put you into the trend. (but you may miss the qwerty keypad)

btw, did you consider an android phone too?

Actually I switched from E71 to the iphone! They're totally two different things wor, an iphone is much much more than just a cell phone, and of course much more expensive, depends what you need la.

Cell phone accessories from case to speakers are all designed for iPhone.  iPhone really dominates the whole smartphone market ?

I think buying an iPhone is like opening a can of worms, once you get an iPhone/iPod Touch, you will be buying into a lot of the toys and apps for it.

E71 is such a good phone, and a few of my friends ditch the iPhone and got something else, Nexus, E71 and BB to name a few.

Also, iPhone takes more resources to run than E71 or BB on 3G, good luck getting a discount on your data plan in the future

I used to love my E71 a lot ga, among many other models. But when I got the iphone, it's a loooooooooot more to play and use with. This devilish device (as pkphilip said, kakaka...) is not just a cell phone, it's the tons of apps will drive you crazy. Besides lots of games, I mostly use some different utility apps in daily basis, something like to do list la, shopping list la, phone book app la, memo note la, news reader la, weather forecast la, currency la, including GPS tim. I can't name them all la! So far, I didn't regret for keep using the iphone and sold my E71. Hahaha..........
