【明報專訊】美國國防部昨日表示，中國早前曾再拒絕讓另1艘美國軍艦在元旦假期停泊香港，同時也拒絕讓美軍運輸機降落香港執行補給任務。有消息指，美國曾要求中國停止部署「東風-31型」導彈，但遭到中國軍方拒絕。

補給運輸機不准降落

美國國防部發言人昨天證實，美軍導彈驅逐艦「魯賓詹姆士號」在10月向中方申請，希望在來香港度元旦。但在11月22日，中方改口同意小鷹號入港時，卻拒絕「魯賓詹姆士號」訪港，並拒絕美軍1架「C-17」軍用運輸機降落香港進行補給任務。該架運輸機每隔3個月都會為美國駐港總領事館運送補給，中方沒有解釋拒絕原因。近來已經有4艘美國軍艦被拒停泊香港。

美國一名高級海軍將領透露，香港是深受美國水兵喜愛的國際港口，未來將仍按需要向中方提出停泊香港的請求。

美促華停部署遠程導彈

內地有網站指，美國曾經要求中國停止部署射程達8000公里，在中國發射能覆蓋美國西岸的「東風-31型」導彈，但遭到中國軍方拒絕。

另據台灣傳媒報道，國務院台辦主任陳雲林即將訪問華府，這是他今年內第3次訪美，頻密程度空前。

Umm... Really wonder why they don't allow them to dock.... Probably some more intelligent reasons than 'just for kicks'.

As to US asking the Chinese not to deploy missile installation, I think it's the biggest joke ever. I can understand how it can piss off China to a point where China don't want ugly face US to dock. They don't want China to deploy missile installation that can reach the US but how much firepower do the US has towards China? Tell me to not install missiles? why don't you disarm all your aircraft career fleets....?? If that's impossible and stupid, then the US request is just as dumb, if not even more stupid.......

Still tho, if pissed off is the only reason, the foreign minister should have higher EQ than that.....

You are such a pro-US person that your logic is totally stupid. Just do some math, you smartie. The amount that those US sailors usually spend in HK is petty compared to tens of thousands dollars spent by those tourists from mainland China. Only a very small number of their family members actually went to HK. These sailors usually become drunk after a couple of beers and caused a lot of problems.

The US recognizes Taiwan as part of China, but is still selling weapons to Taiwan province even after China had protested.

The US recognizes Tibet as part of China, but the US congress gave an award to Dalai Lama, even after China had protested.

People like you will always say China does the wrong thing. You are one who should learn how to deal with the foreign racists. You should be protesting against unreasonable foreign actions against China instead of becoming their laughing stock.

You see, this is not the Ching dynasty, China is much stronger than before and China is now taking a srong stance against unreasonable US actions. This is not about saving face, this is about sending a strong signal to the US bigots. The US may think they can do anything and China will not fight back. But this time around, China sent a very suitable  political message. Those naval visits will resume once the US understands that their bigotry.

BTW, many LYKs have changed their names.

If you think properly you will understand that the short term economic impact of cancelling naval visits is very small.
No one said you said that we should stop China's Free Walk tourists. But those Free Walk tourists do spend a lot more.
These US sailors mainly spend on beers.

Sometimes it is hard to argue with unreasonable people like you who will bash China and support those foreign colonialists, no matter what.

It is all about sending a political message. China did the right thing. That's how you play politics.

Traum gave REASONS why he thought China act wrongly in this matter.  Even if he hates China, so what?  Learn to attack the basis of his arguments please.  

US sailor bring in foreign income into China; Chinese tourist to HK only cycles Chinese money within China.  It's not advantageous from an economic point of view.  

I also don't think that a few thousand US sailors will cause trouble for the HK populous.  The much larger mass of mainlanders who visit HK probably cause more trouble for HK when you look at it in aggregate.  

The basic premise of peter's arguement is since US pissed China off, China has the right be vindictive and bash the US when she needs help.     But should China grow up?  Probably.
