各有各好啦。new car has new techs, better safety option and design, but parts and maintenance labor are high, (most the new car engine are cover up, only open up already extra time there), save on gas, but more power. old car easy on maintenance, easy to modify to your style car, cheaper for parts (at less more easy to find aftermark parts).

new car would be the first choice for me.
w/o the cash i would go for used car from the big dealers.
You will never want a used car from ebay / online from a stranger.

all i care about is the milage for used car. I've seen 15 year old car that only be driven for less than 20k km.

IMHO mileage doesn't mean much. Example: a low mileage accord that gets the old lady to the church during Sundays may have accumulated obsecene low mileage through the years, but will I buy it? Hexk no! Not being able to bring the engine to the full operational temp to chase away the moisture accumulated means that the cylinder wall may becomes pitted as a result.

IMHO a used car inspection can say a lot about the honesty of the owner, and /or how well the vehicle is being used. A well-cared for vehicle should be in decent mechanical condition, require very little $$ to fix up minor issues before it becomes fully road-worthy (my subjective definition, YMMV). I've seen far too many neglected 2nd or 3rd owner vehicles that are belching smokes even though it clocked 85k kms or less, or perhaps only <5yrs old. To me, that's a bad deal even though the mileage maybe low.

Q.

BTW:  I know 字典仔 and the others on this board fairly well (was a mech before). So, to me, inspecting a used car's mech condition posed no challenge to me.

Drive "less" doesn't mean "唔渣" Fair deal -used cars- cheaper. You pay for what you get.

Most new vehicles only come with a 3 or 4 years *Complete Vehicle Warranty (also known as “Bumper to Bumper”); however, mechanical and electrical breakdowns usually occur after the fourth year. With more complicated automotive technology and electronic components, the repair cost is increasing rapidly and this can be frustrating for car owners.

Like most consumers, we would ask the mechanic to only repair those life threatening defects to reduce the impact to our budget and leaving the minor problems as is. However, this will cause us to keep worrying about the driving safety of ourselves and our family.
With the extended warranty coverage, we won’t need to worry about the repair cost! We would naturally want the car dealer to repair all necessary items on the vehicle and everyone would have a peace of mind. (后顾之忧、心安理得)

With the extended warranty coverage, you will surely get a higher resell value because the warranty is transferable. The buyer would not need to worry about problems that were not repaired and the problems that may arise.

The best and cheapest time to extend the warranty is when it is new. The premium increases according to the time and mileage. Most vehicles within 7 model years and within 100,000km are eligible for extending the warranty (after a free mechanical and electrical inspection).

Of course, the vehicle would still need to be serviced as per the schedule required by the manufacturer and shall be repaired at any authorized car dealership in Canada or in the U.S.A.

Safe driving may be able to prevent us from car accidents, but this would not prevent us from the wear and tear that causes the mechanical and electrical breakdowns. Car insurance costs about $2,200 per year. It costs only about $2,000 to extend you car’s *complete vehicle warranty for an additional 5 years, which is, only about $500 per year.  As experience by most drivers, the repair cost would rise to the highest point in the 5th to 8th year. Extending the warranty can eliminate such burden for car owners and save us from unexpected expenses.
