I don't think people here are discussing openly and objectively.
I can understand some people are still very emotional about 6.4 even after 22 years. However, it is also the time that we should be able to discuss and paint the full picture of the event instead of being preoccupied by prejudgements (even though people insist on what they know or believe are the truth and cannot be challenged).
I am do not have much time lately and I would only spend time to discuss with people who deliver meaningful responses.
I don't think the video footages are fake even thought we can be sured they must be edited to fit the messages the Chinese government wanted to deliver.
It is true that the soldiers were very restrained their responses to provocation and attacks until they were given the order to take action to crash down the protests and attacks.
There were many videos showing 暴徒 attacked PLA - burned buses, military vehicles, tanks and killed and burned soldiers before 6.4. KingKong123 should be able to verify this if he was old enough during 6.4.
A local Chinese even took me to the site and pointed to me where the soldiers were killed and their burning bodies were hanged under the street-crossing streets.
Regardless of how people viewed 6.4, the fact is it did turns into 暴動 and began to spread out in China. There were people died not under the guns of PLA, but the riots.
P.S. There are many people from BeiJing in Vancouver now. People can talked to them about 6.4. and find out more about it if they really want to know more about it. |
