can ppl hide their qualifications at interview? he can claimed that he is only secondary graduate if he really want the job... his problem is 尊嚴 as he said in another article.
if a 29 yrs old but haven't got anything to eat for 4 days, he definitely should be responsible himself, so sad
""You have to realize that there's a big difference in ability among hires. Say you have two candidates, person A who's willing to stay for 10 years and person B who's only willing to stay for 6 months. Person A makes mistakes regularly and there's no reason to expect that he/she would improve significantly. Person B is bright and very efficient and can do two people's jobs at once. Which one would you pick?"""
how can you tell a person will makes mistakes regularly and won't able to improve during the interview ar? of course, in your case, i will pick person b.
if it is just a simple job, the employer will more look for the one who can do the job and likely will stay for a long time. if you are over qualified, you are just seeing this job as temporary and keeping looking for another one, so you may stay for 6 months but you may stay for a week. you are smart, but you may not do a great job, since this is not the job that you want.
There are in fact people who are not taking cut in their salary when trying to find a job. They were used to get that much pay and they rather stayed home and collected EI.

yes, but not for all, if you are kind of fresh grad, you need to explain to your employer what you are doing in those years.
if your next employer do a reference check and called your former employer then both employers find out that you lied.
he should responsible for himself, since he is an adult. but still....

Yes, there are so many factors that you can't determine at the interview. That's why I think it's absurd to reject someone just because he's "overqualified". A misfit can do more damage than someone who does a good job for 6 months and move on. Most jobs require less than half a week of specific training. Such overhead is pretty minimal.

why I feel so sad for him? $54 HKD is less than $10 CAD and he still don't have it, it's really like a typical " 輓個錢括沙都無 ", isn't it sad? why he can't find some 體力努動 job? or sell something in their house, for example? and an adult doesn't have anything to eat for 2 days, it is quite unbelievable in nowaday's HK, he should go to some charity like 保良局 or food bank etc.
