quick oil change

my Acura RDX is almost due for an oil change.

I don't want to go back to the dealer becuase it is really a rip off. they charge $107 for the oil change and other minor inspections.

Mr.lubc charges $79 for the oil change and other minor inspections.

anyone been to Mr.lube? is there other quick oil-change store i can call to get a quote?

will they replace my washer with a new one? i know the dealer will.

note: rdx uses sythetic oils Mobil 1 5W-30 ($41.99 for 4.4L in Can tire)

but I think there are options in between Mr. Lube and dealership...

I had bad experience with Mr. Lube years ago...  never go back again. It may be OK with another location tho... and it's been years.

Mr Lube hires anyone as their technicians without proper training...knew a guy worked for them and he can't even do his own oil change properly (well u can say that's individual case)...

have had a friend who went to them, they tell her the coolant is sooo low and dirty so might as well change it; turns out her radiator was leaking (that's why it's low) and 3 days after the service at Mr Lube her car overheats and engine was toasted! all these hazzle could have been saved if it was done by a licensed mechanic...

even dealership hires "lube boy" (usually when lot boy's wages get high enough they might as well give them a better use, started off with lube boy then after a year or two they will send them to bcit for training) nowadays, just for those of us who doesn't want to pay for their "service" (those express lube ain't handled by licensed mechanics)....

even a mechanic has good and bad, if you trust those lube boy...

lube boy at dealership is usually fine as they only work on one brand of cars most of the time and there are mechanics supervising them

I suggest you take your car back to the dealership and specifically ask for an oil change ONLY no service and see how much they quote you.  I try my best not to go to "Lube" places...

yes lube boy at dealership is way better than those at mr lube, only downside is mechanic can't follow up everything they do and they might have missed few things here and there...

i had friends who has got mis-quoted for "brake pad is needed", didn't aware his car is leaking oil and it was supposed to be under warranty, they just put pressure into tires while they are supposed to have a nail (or it could have picked up on the way out from the shop to the lot, god knows)...

have had a friend who went back to VW for oil change, picked it up during lunch time parked it at work, after work his co-worker saw him leaving the lot with a whole bunch of oil at where he parked, turned out those lube boy screwed it up...

but like i said, even mechanic can screw up, and i have been there (when i was training) and i am still learning new things every now and then....

thank you for the advices. i am actually thinking of changing the oil myself since my car has enough clearance for me to slide under it without jacking up the car. i am debating between saving money or saving hassle.

$100 for OIL CHANGE ???

Oh .. how could it be??? and sythetic oils ??  oil itself will cost them $50-60 .  then filter another $15 or so ..
How could they charge so little ??  did you buy some "PACKAGE" from them??

You better double check, may be $107 is just labour ?  I never heard sythetic oil service is that cheap from any dealer ..  and not a chance to include any inspection for you as well .. with average $130-140 an hr labor cost ..

i am pretty sure that's the price b4 tax $107 (parts, labor, and free drop off+pick up from your home). I went back to the dealer many times for service ever since i own this car. I am just exploring other options since many people told me dealerships always rip off customers for service.

seem like Edmonton is another story.

I always DIY oil change under $40.  Sometime Synthetic oil on sale for $18-25 for 4L or go to united state walmart buy Castrol synthetic for $23 for 5 quart. Oil filter under $10.
