HIR headlights?

Has anyone ever heard of HIR? Are these legal in Canada?
We used to have silverstars in our Lexus but now we want to try something else in the Toyota...

also is there any place to get these installed?

why do ppl still uses these HID wannabe....

just get HID... they are cheap nowadays

haven't seen something like that before...
just get the silverstar..they are not too bad...
better then those crazy blue , superwhite, ion thing light blub...those are crab and will burn your headlight harness.

because HID have to install the whole system....
HIR just put into the original socket

we used nighthawk before
silverstar has bad reviews of only lasting 3 months - max 1 year

really? I did use silverstar before, it last pretty long. well, eventually, it burned out, but must be longer than a year...
then I switched back to stock..

btw...does any of you know where to get DEPO's headlight? I do have other topic posted too, but just see if anyone will know in here..

i had them before.....only slight improvement over halogen...
not sure did i trim the base precise enough....cuz the beam pattern is a bit different from before

if you want to go for HID, depends on what car do you drive.

mine is 06 civic sedan....i ended up using a plug-n-play system(with OEM components like d4r(mercury-free version of d2r, debased to 9006, 4300k) bulb and Denso's  igniter+ballast(in one piece)

but the beam pattern isn't as good as my friend's unknown brand 7000k....surprisingly her unknown brand has identical beam pattern as the halogen one

For Car that doesn't come with HID, I don't think it is that easy to put in HID for the following reason:

Put the HID technology into the existing headlight. This is what is commonly referred to as an HID kit ($500US). The HID bulb and ballast (the HID bulb control box) replaces the halogen bulb and thus in effect putting a very bright HID bulb into a halogen housing (stock headlight housing). This achieves the brightness of using HID but the beam pattern is scattered like a halogen bulb because the housing is not meant for such a light source.  These HID kits are illegal because they are not focused and glare other drivers (Hence not DOT approved). DOT = Department of Transportation.
