Good points. I guess that really depends on personal preferences. For me, the wedding planning part is one of the most exciting and memorable "tasks" for my wedding. Of course there were good and bad experiences/decisions but the most important part is I have personally experienced them. Suggestions from wedding planner will usually be good I guess but you never know if they are affiliated with some vendors coz I doubt if they will tell you about that. (it is like when you are on a tour a tour guide brings you to a shop to buy stuff and they get commission) I am sure there are many good wedding planners out there but for me when it comes to such important decisions, I usually trust my own researches and my girlfriends references/feedback/experiences more.   Because I can never blame myself too much if I made a bad decision because after all it is my own choice.

to save you time and money.  if you have time, you can involved, but if you don't someone can do the job for you.  an experience wedding planner can help you to solve the problems that you never think of.  plus they have connection with all flower shops, cake shop & ... so you will get a good discount.  plus min. the argument between the two

You need time and passion to plan a wedding yourself. I mean some people just don't enjoy doing it and they still want a decent wedding, so they hire planner to do the job.

Well wedding planners are not just there to "plan you wedding"; like me, I'm planning my entire wedding as well, and I agree with you, I wouldn't sacrifice that for anything......but on the day of the wedding, I really don't want to deal with any of the logistical issues regardless of how big / small my wedding is. This is where the wedding planner comes in to do day-of coordination. A lot of people go for services like this too since they want to enjoy the planning process but don't wanna be the planner as well as the bride on her big day.

Nah I'd prefer that they just enjoy the day......to organize the run-down of the day of the wedding the person has to be super organized. This is a huge responsibility that I'd rather ask a professional to do it instead of relying on friends. In addition I don't think my MOH can be at multiple places at once (e.g. she will be walking down the aisle when I need someone to cue the person to play the music, or when she is taking pictures with me in the afternoon I'll need someone to coordinate the decor at the banquet).

Well...that's why besides MOH, bestman, I assigned a friend as "general manager" to handle the "flow" of the day. And a few other friends help out different things. Maybe I'm the type of person that hardly "trust" a person who I don't know too well la, I "know" my friends long enough so to know that I can trust and rely on them.

Of course, the planning work is quite intense...so if you don't enjoy this kind of work, let some professional do it is better.

good luck finding a good wedding planner. all the wedding that i've been to they didn't use wedding planner, for myself i won't use a wedding planner as well. but this is different for everyone
