There are a few photos that are back-lite.  Not sure if they are intended or not, as this is also a common exposure errors when using the camera meter without proper exposure compensation.  Like the 2nd last photo, it would be nice if we can see a little more of his face.

I have no problem with the exposures. I don't think it's important to see that guy's face clearly in that photo.

But the photos certainly look random. Ironically, the consistency is the randomness. Unless that's exactly what he wants to do, otherwise he needs to continue refining his style.

I don't mean clearly.. but when looking at that picture.. I would love to see a little of his facial expression.

oh, then you can just lift some shadow detail in post processing
you wouldn't want to overexpose when you take the shot
it's easier to lift shadows than to recover highlight

Like the talk.

Randomness:  There photos are taken yesterday during lunch and on my way home.  Photography is secondary.  Getting food and getting home were no.1 priority.  You can call the photos derivatives of my daily life (hence the title A Day on April 18).  It is a mental workout for seeing what is interesting in term of Light/Geometry/Composition to photograph. No major ambition here.

Exposure error:  Both cow/chobit are correct.  My thought was not to expose the sleeper correctly .  I want to see the light wrap around him with some hightlights along deep shadows.  Going for a sleepy lazy afternoon feel.  Seeing more of the old man makes the photo more interesting, as the old man is also a character).  So I did burn the shadow side of the man a bit, so the blacks are not so crashed.

Got it.

Mental exercise is fine as you keep a record of what's good and what's not. But I haven't seen any major project from you so I don't know if you have gathered something from your daily exercise.

you know....something that doesn't look good in color usually wouldn't look good in b&w either
and vice versa

sometimes a color photo would look even better in b&w
but it's not a way to fix bad shots
