I really wanna vent about my experience at the restaurant. And I have to tell you why I rated it that low:
Food:
We've ordered a Sazae (conch) sashimi, what they gave us was cooked & frozen then thawed and mince cut snail size T&T conch meat pretended to be Sazae. I have had sazae in Japan before so I know the difference. Next we ordered a special sashimi which was recommend by the waitress (or manager or owner), telling me the fish name in Chinese 針魚. I'm not familiar with Chinese fish names so I kindly asked them "are they half finger size small white fishies?" and she said YES. Then "surprisingly" it came out to be sayori sashimi (in case you're not sure what it looks, it is ONE fish at least 8 inches long, anyone have fingers that long?), which I know what it is (only in Japanese), which was not something we really wanted to have. Although when I googled yahoo.hk and now I know the chinese name of sayori is 針魚, she shouldn't say yes when I was describing something that is not 針魚!! Their chicken skin skewers were not crispy yet when served.
Service:
Food is slow, the waitress has very poor description for their food, and when asked her why the food turned out not something described by her or the menu, she just simply said "hmmm... I don't know I need to ask the kitchen" then ran way! I had asked about her "fake sazae" and the sayori sashimi in a serious but polite way but she tried her best not to respond to my questions. The table next to me want to order a udon in soup but then it turned out to be a fried one, that same waitress denied that she had the wrong order but saying that it's the customer who ordered the wrong thing and tell them they don't have udon in soup on the menu. But note that they do have nabeyaki udon which is a highlighted item with photo on the menu! Of course she tried to persuade the customer to take the fried noodle instead of taking it back to the kitchen.
Seriously I will avoid this restaurant in the future, and beware of the waitress/manager/owner in mid 30/40s wearing glasses, she cannot be trust.

Biggest flaw of the argument. Going to a Chinese operated Japanese restaurant in New Chinatown (Richmond) and expect to have true authentic Japanese cuisine experience.

I truly agree with you, but you didn't get my point. I didn't expect much BUT whoever operating a business should not lie to customer so obviously, I don't see all Chinese operated Japanese restaurant is doing the same way though. She was like telling the customer 海南雞 ＝ 貴妃雞。In the other way round I do appreciate those Chinese operated japanese restaurant (or any other cuisine) for their quality food and service.
In my post I didn't say I was looking for Authentic Jap food and I do know where to go if want to. I went there because wasn't planned to go there and that's why I 賴左野. We were wandering around Alexandra and picked the worst one on the street, yes it's my fault .
Doesn't matter, we're both saying Manzo is no good just in different ways... haha.

Oh no.....! I think I shouldn't expect a cheap "Mac Kee" hamburger real beef and real bread?! Oh no.....!!
i blacklisted the main store on Alexandra Rd long time because it's expensive & MSG over loaded. like me and my girl friend go there & just TWO girls eat $90. & the grills are salty with MSG, so thirsty afterwards. for j-tapas i would rather make a drive back to downtown for Guu on Robson
i have also blacklisted this place long ago because i had a food poison from this place
food is over charge...rather go to kingyo on denman...
plus i had a frd work there before...the owner is so cheap...they steals the tips from servers...and only give them the tips from customers that paid cash...so if u paid with credit card...the servers dont get it...

Oh really?! The boss is so cheap wor!! Well.... but honestly, that part is not customers' concern. Customers pay for the high price and expect to get reasonably nice food and service. Which they upset many customers la!
