actually I've tried Adecco and David Aplin......I sent my resume to their office location and applied to some of their 'entry' level job online, but I havent heard from them at all.  I dont really kno ...

When I was looking for jobs through headhunters, I call them.

Don't wait for them to find you.

But if you apply for companies directly then.... don't call.

I got my job within a month

but I believe I sent out 10 resumes + cover letters a day. MINIMUM.
I get 1-2 interviews a week..
and after i start my job.... those calls keep returning
so normally it takes more than a month for them to respond
just keep applying and applying and applying.

no kidding
i'm on the same boat as you
just grad and still no job after 2 months looking

i kinda agree with what u said...but the reason i had no work experience was because i did a lot of volunteer work....that's experience too...just not paid...

and for employment agencies, try avoiding Miles....didn't help at all....

It is not easy to find the first job after grad... I grad with a comp sci degree with 5 semesters of Co-op too in June... i started looking job since Feb/Mar, (well, avaialble to work in May), and didn't get my offer till end of April. Thinking back... i just send off around 5-7 resume for every co-op term i look for and already got more than half replies for interview and got job offer within 3 weeks. When I look for this FT job, i send off around 15 application, and only get like 6 interviews or so. So yes, 1st job after grad is very very tough... esp. in current market, lots of companies have hiring freeze. For Fine Arts, do u know some graphics software? such as Adobe suite? or r u good in Engish? many companies look for technical writer. Think of what career you really want to go, and upgrade urself with some practical course on that field (BCIT/Langara usually a good choice). That will increase ur chance to find a job.

try craigslist ...

What kind of jobs are you applying for with your fine art degree??

TOP

My friend with Fine Arts degree goes back to HK and now works in design firm.

TOP

Not a good time to go back to HK now, company is starting to down size, and not hiring anyone to fill the spot when people leave

TOP

fine art = design? Then why does people need to go to design schools like Emily Carr?
