These reporters who follow the PM all over the place are not that "ignorant". They have been to other countries like the US and Europe. But the problem with them, still is the fact they look down on China and the Chinese. They still cannot believe the rapid growth of China's economy. Or rather, they want to believe what they want to believe. Even after witnessing the successful hosting of the Beijing Olympics games, even after witnessing the steady growth of the Chinese economy during the current western economic calamity, they still think China is in the Ching dynasty, therefore they are still skeptical of a rising China's. It takes a China trip for them to finally "get it" and realize that the top tier Chinese cities are more advanced than Toronto, for example.
This is a very disturbing observation, since these reporters from Ottawa are supposed to inform Canadians of what they see around the world, instead of keeping Canadians in the dark. But these reporters themselves are ignorant about the rise of China. How do you think ordinary Canadians would learn more about China?
It makes you wonder what these Canadians ambassadors and foreign affairs officals have been doing, if it takes the prime minister to visit China personally, to finally "get it". It should clear by now that all these years, the western media has been cranking out anti-Chinese materials and reading each others' China-bashing articles. |
