鹹 海 50 年 來 乾 剩 一 成 潘基文, 阿姆河, 南部

(星島日報報道)位於中亞烏茲別克和哈薩克邊界的鹹海（Aral Sea）曾經是世界第四大湖泊，但在過去五十年來，鹹海面積縮小了九成，聯合國秘書長潘基文形容為全球「最令人震驚的環境災難之一」。

　　鹹海面積曾達六萬八千平方公里，是英格蘭的一半，但在上世紀六十年代開始，當時的蘇聯將流入鹹海的兩大河流──錫爾河（Syr Darya）和阿姆河（Amu Darya）的河水引導以灌溉種植棉花，鹹海即迅速乾涸。

　　到了一九九七年，鹹海面積已縮至原來的十分之一，並隨覑水位的下降分成較大的南部烏茲別克部分和較小的哈薩克部分，一度興盛的漁業嚴重受影響，拖網漁船都擱置在乾涸的湖脇上，就像從天而降一樣。
海水蒸發留下鹽份極高的沙層，除了影響當地居民健康外，還會隨風飄至遠達斯堪的納維亞半島和日本。

　　正訪問中亞五國的潘基文，星期日乘坐直升機巡視鹹海，其間曾在烏茲別克的穆伊納克（Muynak）降落，當地曾是瀕海城市，但現在碼頭怪異地伸向灰色的沙漠，一群駱駝則站在廢棄的船隻旁邊，潘基文形容他看到的是「船隻的墳場」，促請中亞各國領袖努力解決問題。

You can just visit their website and read about the issues on climate change.
They had over 50 million participants. It means at least 50 million people has heard about Earth Hour. It surely does the job of raising awareness of whats happening to mother earth.

Maybe you should spend sometimes read the site rather than listening to your 快樂牛郎 by 劉以達.
